Indeed too pedantic...maybe even outright punctilious! The topic is so incredibly miniscule-to-immense, it could have been delivered in a fold-out pamphlet or not...maybe with 3pt font...(?). I definitely read it though, so don't doubt the sincerity of my review.
But an instructional book that does what it says...not for me. I would have preferred a presentation via psychological thriller, spanning several novels and, perhaps, subsequent Hollywood adaptations. This is the more efficacious means of absorbing technical details related to a narrow topic - I should know; I have a robust vocabulary I incubated during my time as an amateur swarmer pugilist whilst attending Cambridge. This made for me becoming a masterful psychological thriller critic.
I could continue all day talking about my superiority, but, alas, I just painted a wall and the exhilaration of watching it dry is too great.
In closing, the book in question is good, possibly bad...maybe mediocre. I would suggest a read through all the reviews and gather the book's successes and it's shortcomings, then weigh them against one another. I read this book also.
Too pedantic. Too much detail, giving formulas for which one can no longer get ingredients. Plods along, gives good information in spurts. Not a bad read, but slow.
